Tiles 3.0

Video

Tutorial

  1. 1. Grid 7x6 with no margins, no notification bar, no dock bar.
  2. 2. The UCCW notification bar is size 1x5 which is then resized in launcher to 1x6 (since 1x6 is not an option in UCCW).
  3. 3. The UCCW clock is 3x3.

I wasn’t completely happy with Tiles 2.1 so I started over. I needed a Play icon so I went for a new grid size as well as added the calendar greatly inspired by http://mycolorscreen.com/2013/01/14/favourites/
The notifications are probably the main reason for starting over. I wanted a lot of info but in a small space that wasn’t overwhelming.
Wallpaper is based on the Cuben project by www.simoncpage.co.uk

    ZOOM! Otherwise you’ll miss the point with the notification bar ;)

    Will the wallpaper calendar change each month

    @dfolk Thanks! :)

    @nico29 Thanks :)

  8. Posted 2013/01/18 at 5:40 am | Permalink

    @rockbmi I wish it would :/ But of course I will create one for February if I still have this wallpaper by then :) Remind me if you want one for Feb as well!

    The icon.zip is broken.

  10. Posted 2013/01/18 at 2:21 pm | Permalink

    @Sandman007 Sorry! It’s fixed now :)

  11. Posted 2013/01/18 at 7:33 pm | Permalink

    @dadilydoo

    maybe you could use Android Pro Widgets for the calendar?

  12. Posted 2013/01/18 at 9:47 pm | Permalink

    GreatJob!

  13. Posted 2013/01/18 at 10:33 pm | Permalink

    @ravensysteam Thanks :)

  14. Posted 2013/01/19 at 12:58 am | Permalink

    @Dadilydoo Is this wallpaper ready for the Galaxy Nexus ? Is there any need to crop the wallpaper in order to make it work ?

  15. Posted 2013/01/19 at 1:05 am | Permalink

    Also, i will need to change the wallpaper every month since the calendar is static

  16. Posted 2013/01/19 at 1:10 am | Permalink

    @marcellolins If you use Nove Launcher you crop it with Nova and use the portrait mode. Make it as large as possible. Other way is to use Quickpic. If you use Quickpic I recommend that you create two screens in your lancher, set the wallpaper with Quickpic as large as possible and then remove the second empty screen :)

  17. Posted 2013/01/19 at 1:11 am | Permalink

    @marcellolins Ah, yes. I will probably do that myself if I don’t change my theme before the end of the month. Otherwise please remind me and I will :)

  22. Posted 2013/01/22 at 3:58 am | Permalink

    @dadilydoo could you please double check the icon pack. It seems to be corrupt, I get an error when I try to decompress the file.

    Thanks,

  23. Posted 2013/01/22 at 4:04 am | Permalink

    @jibaro009 Huh, that’s weird! I can decompress it just fine :/ But anyways, if you look in the dropbox folder at the top comments you will see that the icons are also in a folder to be downloaded individually :)

  24. Posted 2013/01/22 at 9:12 pm | Permalink

    Congratulation, this screen has been selected as Screen of the Day 01/22/13

  25. Posted 2013/01/22 at 9:17 pm | Permalink

    @Peachanan Wow :) Thank you!

  26. Posted 2013/01/23 at 2:38 am | Permalink

    Really like this screen. I’ve been trying to put it together however the UCCW for the Notifications only brings up a white box when I open it. Any tips?

  27. Posted 2013/01/23 at 3:07 am | Permalink

    @Matthewscottk Hmm. Weird. Do you have the latest UCCW available on Play Store? If not try to update it and try again :) Also, try to download it another time in case the download failed somewhere and that’s why. I just tried it with another device and the uzip works for me!

  28. Posted 2013/01/23 at 6:39 am | Permalink

    Sorry man, I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled UCCW, downloaded the Notification UZip 5 times, and still won’t load :/ Every other Uzip including your clock works but when I choose the notifications one it freezes and then loads a white box. I’ll try to recreate the UCCW though.

  29. Posted 2013/01/23 at 9:08 am | Permalink

    Got it to work! Looks great.

  30. Posted 2013/01/23 at 2:49 pm | Permalink

    @Matthewscottk Great to hear it works. Hope you didn’t have to redo it yourself! Really weird that it didn’t work for you. The only thing I could come up with is that you should apply the skin BEFORE you resize it from 5×1 to 6×1.

  31. Posted 2013/01/23 at 9:03 pm | Permalink

    Looks amazing!

  32. Posted 2013/01/23 at 9:11 pm | Permalink

    Thanks! :) @aksackz

  33. Posted 2013/01/23 at 10:38 pm | Permalink

    sory, why UCCW notifications can’t load in my screen?
    just a white box

  34. Posted 2013/01/24 at 7:11 am | Permalink

    Nice. Can you create February Calendar or PSD for it. Any more icons? TIA

  35. Posted 2013/01/24 at 9:34 am | Permalink

    Looks sick! Can you provide the link for the full wallpaper, the one in the background? Thanks a whole lot.

  36. Posted 2013/01/24 at 5:03 pm | Permalink

    @rockbmi @asrohab @x1tymez @marcellolins The dropbox folder is updated with a February screen as well :)

  37. Posted 2013/01/25 at 1:14 am | Permalink

    can I get the pattern wallpaper by itself?

  38. Posted 2013/01/25 at 2:40 am | Permalink

    @asrohab @Jlamour4 No prob :) The original is by Simon C Page and can be found here: http://simoncpage.co.uk/blog/ (or google Cuben project)
    I have modified his wallpaper a bit and the full version is available in the dropbox folder now.

  39. Posted 2013/01/25 at 2:41 am | Permalink

    @GhiffaryM I’m sorry but I have no idea what’s wrong :( I can download it from my dropbox to a different device and it works flawlessly. Matthew Kaufman got it to work (or he redid it) in the comments above. Maybe he can provide you one that works :)

  40. Posted 2013/01/25 at 9:18 pm | Permalink

    very nice. detailed and simple. :thumbup:

  41. Posted 2013/01/25 at 10:36 pm | Permalink

    @GhiffaryM

    Try this one here.

    https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=8E0C79D58C819F6D!169&authkey=!AOvovKO6bgUuK6w

    If that doesn’t work, do what I did. Download the Notifications UCCW on another device, open up the file, export as .uzip, upload the new .uzip to cloud service of choice, then download on the device you want it on. Takes only a few minutes.

  42. Posted 2013/01/26 at 8:18 am | Permalink

    @dadilydoo Can you check UCCW notification bar. For some reason, weather don’t update on its own. I double check on UCCW setting and still no go.

  43. Posted 2013/01/26 at 3:47 pm | Permalink

    @raycolon Thanks :)

  44. Posted 2013/01/26 at 3:53 pm | Permalink

    @x1tymez The notification bar seems to be a problem for a lot of users :( It works for me on all units I’ve tried it on so all I could think of is to remove the temperature and add it again. The font is Roboto Thin and it’s for free.

  45. Posted 2013/01/27 at 4:04 am | Permalink

    Nice theme.

    Do you have anymore notification icons? Or where can I get them from / find them?

    Thanks.

  46. Posted 2013/01/27 at 5:10 pm | Permalink

    WOw, it looks really nice, congratulation !
    Just a question, How did you do the calendar ? If I want to do it myself for an other skin or for the month of March, how can I do ?

  47. Posted 2013/01/27 at 10:35 pm | Permalink

    this homescreen is great! however i wish there could have been more variety of icons. i added 12 apps in it, not 8. hehe. also, i wish i could replace the UCCW object week of the year to year instead. but hey, this is amazing! thanks a lot! :)

  48. Posted 2013/01/28 at 1:33 am | Permalink

    When I try to set the background using Nova this happens. Anyone know how to fix this?

  50. Posted 2013/01/28 at 2:42 am | Permalink

    @Takeshi29 Hi! The calendar is part of the wallpaper and made in Photoshop. I have made one for February already (it’s in my Dropbox) and I will make one for March later on :) Also, if you’re familiar with Photoshop the PSD is available in the dropbox.

  51. Posted 2013/01/28 at 2:44 am | Permalink

    @haiuyu Indeed I just put my most used ones in there :) Of course you can edit the uzip so it shows the year instead. The font is Roboto Thin :)

  52. Posted 2013/01/28 at 6:26 am | Permalink

    @dadilydoo Yeah I tired remove Current Weather and re-add it. It works for awhile and stopped. Don’t know what the issues. :)

  57. Posted 2013/02/01 at 9:55 am | Permalink

    Love the icons ! did you made them by yourself ?!

  58. Posted 2013/02/03 at 8:18 pm | Permalink

    @Agiz Yes and no. Some were taken from Iconsweets 2 icon pack and were just recolored whereas some were made from scratch by me.

  59. Posted 2013/02/04 at 9:38 pm | Permalink

    @dadilydoo i couldnt get the files, is there something wrong with the dropbox files?

  60. Posted 2013/02/05 at 7:27 am | Permalink

    @kaufel I can acces dropbox from a different unit. Please try again!

  61. Posted 2013/02/10 at 6:21 pm | Permalink

    hey, the icon zip is broken

  62. Posted 2013/02/12 at 9:29 pm | Permalink

    @Mashari_F All the icons are in the dropbox folder, both as a working zip and as a folder.

    hi i just finished punting this on my s3, but i’. having a problem with the notification bar, i cant seem to make it fit, the gmail, temp and battery notification are all bundle up together how do i fix it?

  68. Posted 2013/02/28 at 7:43 am | Permalink

    never mind fixed it :) awesome bye screen btw :)

  69. Posted 2013/03/05 at 5:34 am | Permalink

    Hi, I just set this up and it looks great! Although I am having some problems with the Gmail part on the notifications bar. It overlaps with the battery and temperature parts. Other than that, I loved this theme. Keep it up!

  70. Posted 2013/03/05 at 5:42 am | Permalink

    Nevermind, I got it to work. For those experiencing this problem, touch the notification bar, then it will open up to UCCW, after that touch “select object” and select Gmail 1. After that, swipe all the way to Controls 5. Touch accounts then touch the account you want. Then go to label and touch inbox.

  71. Posted 2013/03/09 at 4:52 pm | Permalink

    How would I change the wallpaper thing to a wallpaper of my choosing?

  72. Posted 2013/03/11 at 6:52 am | Permalink

    @mrjoeltan I use Photoshop for that :)

  73. Posted 2013/03/15 at 4:53 pm | Permalink

    I love this, infact its the only one I’ve seen so far that I would like on my phone…but I’m new to all this as I’ve always had iPhones until my S3, wishing the tutorial was a bit more ‘noob friendly’.

  74. Posted 2013/03/15 at 5:31 pm | Permalink

  80. Posted 2013/04/09 at 10:41 pm | Permalink

    the gmail, temp and battery notification are all bundle up together how do I fix it? I can’t see the “select object” in UCCW, can you please help, I watched the tutorial on youtube as well but I can’t work it out.

  81. Posted 2013/04/09 at 11:20 pm | Permalink

    Sorted thanks, I had to click on background in UCCW and chose gmail from there I could find it thanks for this great job.

  82. Posted 2013/04/10 at 6:10 pm | Permalink

    @brad9106 Sorry, for the late reply. From what I know the degrees shown is based on your system preferences. I.e, if you have Fahrenheit on your phone the widget will show the temp in Fahrenheit.

  83. Posted 2013/04/26 at 12:51 pm | Permalink

    This is gorgeous. Please please keep updating the calendars so I can keep using it! Also, do you have any plans of changing the geometric design? Perhaps another one from that same artist? Thanks!!!

  84. Posted 2013/04/30 at 2:11 pm | Permalink

    @AR @allxmyxlovin Hey! Nice to see people still using this screen :) I will make a new one tonight with the same setup but with calendars for future months and a few more backgrounds to choose from. However, I will upload it as a new separate screen.
