METRO

Tutorial

  1. 1. Download the stuff (duh!).
  2. 3. Add the UCCW skins and place them on the corresponding spaces, I think the time was a 2x2, and the battery a 2x1.
  3. 4. Since you can freely size widgets in ssLauncher, this might take some fiddling around.
  4. 5. Add shortcuts over the different button and icons, resize them so they fit nicely, then pick a transparent icon.
  5. 10. Install Minimalistic Text app and make a tiny little weather info thingy, really easy to do - trust me! :)
  6. 11. Done!

Please ZOOM! :)
Saw a beautifull UI design called ‘metro’ on dribbble.
I just had to give this look a home on my galaxy sIII.
It turned out a little tiny, but if you tap carefully, it works quite well. Was a pain in the ass to set up though, a lot of fiddling around to get everything in the right position.
Hope you guys like it! :)

Edit:
I added a file download and some setup help.

Edit2:
The setup text gets corrupted when i save the changes so here it is in full:

Download the stuff (duh!).

Use ssLauncher, other launchers might somehow work, but I’m not sure.

Add the UCCW skins and place them on the corresponding spaces, I think the time was a 2×2, and the battery a 2×1.

Since you can freely size widgets in ssLauncher, this might take some fiddling around.

Add shortcuts over the different button and icons, resize them so they fit nicely, then pick a transparent icon.

Now for the popup menus. I was not sure how to do this, because it was a lot of trial and error to get them to align properly.

I just provided you basic PNGs with basic icons and no text. You can use them either as a background or an image in UCCW.

Add the text and Shortcuts and ‘boom’, you’re done.

Now to make them pop: longpress phone screen, select “new Shortcut”. Set type to “widget” and as target select your awesome UCCW.

Install Minimalistic Text app and make a tiny little weather info thingy, really easy to do – trust me! :)

Done!

    @Peachanan Wow, thanks alot! :)

    Always works best, wonderful people!

  10. Posted 2013/05/16 at 10:39 am | Permalink

@bschke I might share the stuff, however it might still be alot of work to reproduce, since ssLauncher does not give you a specific grid that makes placing the different widgets etc. easier.
Sharing the base wallpaper should not be a problem though ;)

  11. Posted 2013/05/16 at 10:45 am | Permalink

    Wow, it’s looking incredible!

Seriously – this is inspiring me to actually make a new screen for myself … somewhat like this but with my own twist of course … good job!

    1. Share me the files please?
    2. Can I do this on other launchers (e.g. Lightning, Nova)?
    3. Tutorial?

  23. Posted 2013/05/17 at 1:58 am | Permalink

    Please please share files!

  24. Posted 2013/05/17 at 2:26 am | Permalink

@4rtur3k Sorry, won’t be able to do that. I do not have the proper equipment :(

  25. Posted 2013/05/17 at 2:28 am | Permalink

@Benjimahana It’s a build in feature in ssLauncher. Just longpress the homescreen, add shortcut. Select widget as target and then choose uccw skin. You can also do this in other launchers, with an app called “popup widget” or “widget popup” or something…
@ all: Thx for the love! :)

  26. Posted 2013/05/17 at 3:13 am | Permalink

  28. Posted 2013/05/17 at 3:54 am | Permalink

This is great, and i wish my Win8 would look so good ;))

  29. Posted 2013/05/17 at 5:17 am | Permalink

this is outstanding i want it on my phone !

  30. Posted 2013/05/17 at 5:31 am | Permalink

@all: I just added a download link for the basic files, however I find it harder to properly share ssLauncher files, since there are no restrictions as to where you place and how you size things. Recreating designs is hard because of that.
@MarcoJHB If you can figure it out, sure thing! :) Let me know if you need some more help!

  31. Posted 2013/05/17 at 10:56 am | Permalink

Thanks a lot for this amazing piece of work and all the files you provided. Take me an hour to install it, but it was worth the time !

  32. Posted 2013/05/17 at 10:59 am | Permalink

@Nikk is there a different way of downloading the files?? Not to sure how to download them on my phone. Or do I need to get it off the comp

  33. Posted 2013/05/17 at 2:38 pm | Permalink

Man do yyou have PSD. file? (:

  34. Posted 2013/05/17 at 5:02 pm | Permalink

This is AMAZING! Love experimenting with launchers lately (right now I’m using Buzz), but I’m definitely installing ss after posting this comment ha. :) @infantelouis Here’s what I do, if it helps: I have dropbox installed on both my phone and computer, so I upload the files to the account on my computer, and they automatically sync to dropbox on my phone. Then, I use ASTRO File Manager to unzip, etc. :))

  35. Posted 2013/05/17 at 6:01 pm | Permalink

@kchelz lol I was at work at the time of my post, I got it of the comp already. But the whole Dropbox thing, thanks. I didn’t realize that it would automatically sync.

@nikk GREAT JOB MAN!! I’m trying to get some of my boys down here in Hawaii into mycolorscreen. I recommended them to your work. Keep it up bro. ALOHA.
